Blood Dazzler is a collection of poetry about New Orleans and hurricane Katrina. Gold in your molars and earlobes. My favorite of these is the critical perspective of Hurricane Betsy, smitu apparently rifled through New Orleans’ underwear drawer inwith the brutal and stylish scandal of the recently derailed Kennedy administration.
And it is stunning. What to Tweak, Siblings and Katrina were the best. My father begins a story like this with a long pause and a forty-yard stare. I particularly enjoyed the poems written in the voice of the hurricane.
I saw her read here in LA in a night at the Getty, and had to buy her book.
